Why are weeds a problem for my lawn? 

When your lawn becomes invaded by weeds, they take up the air, water and nutrients needed for your healthy grass, which weakens the grass plants and can in turn lead to other issues in your lawn. The more the weeds are left alone, the stronger they get and it can be more of a problem to get rid of long term. 
 

How can I control my weeds? 

Hampshire Lawncraft use a product known as a Selective Herbicide for the removal of weeds from your lawn. The Core Essential and Core Plus treatments include a Selective Herbicide application on four of the five annual visits. These products target only broad leaved weeds without harming the grass, they can only be used when the weed is actively growing and will only affect weeds that are in leaf.

 

Some weeds such as Yarrow and Speedwell can be quite stubborn but with consistent treatment all lawns can be cleared of weeds.

 

The key is to treat often enough to prevent seeding so that no new seed gets into the soil and the reservoir of viable seed in the soil gradually dwindles. Over time you will find less and less weeds germinate and it will become easier to keep the lawn weed-free.
